You can get a head start on this year’s programming from the Bill of Rights Institute in honor of Constitution Day on Wednesday, Sept. 17.

Ahead of Constitution Day, BRI released two new videos on our YouTube channel – “Civics on the Street” and “Constitutional Amendments.” In this year’s Civics on the Street segment, professor Matthew Green from Catholic University of America answers student questions about the U.S. Constitution. Our Constitutional Amendments Primary Source Essentials video explores the constitutional amendment process and its connection to the founding principle of popular sovereignty.

In keeping with BRI’s theme for Constitution Day Live, “Civics in Your Backyard,” BRI is also highlighting this year’s winner of BRI’s annual MyImpact Challenge contest, William Mar. The Texas student received the $10,000 grand prize for creating Reach Through Rackets, an organization that provides children with disabilities with the opportunity to play tennis.

Finally, we encourage you to watch “Democracy in Action” video this Constitution Day. It explores how the Constitution has guided Americans through pivotal moments in history, beginning with the document’s writing in 1787. To help educators prepare for Constitution Day, BRI’s Programs team hosted a remote training session to share strategies on how to teach the Constitution using BRI’s numerous resources.

Beginning on Constitution Day on Sept. 17, BRI will premiere three more videos on our YouTube channel on how to be a civic leader, a mini-documentary on the Constitutional Convention in recognition of America’s 250th birthday next year, and an interview about federalism and the Constitution with Anastasia Boden, senior attorney at the Pacific Legal Foundation.
