Presidents and the Constitution, Volume 2

The Bill of Rights Institute’s newest curriculum, Presidents and the Constitution, Volume 2 explores 16 presidents. Combined with Volume 1, student can discover how 25 presidents understood and exercised their constitutional powers. By exploring constitutional crises in American history, these interactive, hands-on lessons encourage students to analyze the actions of Presidents in light of the Constitution.

Students will engage with:

  • 15 ready-to-use, interactive lesson plans focused on Jefferson, Madison, Washington, Eisenhower, Nixon, Clinton, Lincoln and 9 other presidents!
  • Strong focus on primary source activities
  • Solid content including a historical narrative in each lesson

The Bill of Rights Institute’s 2010 Constitutional Academy for exceptional rising high school juniors and seniors will be held July 18-24 and July 25-31, 2010 in Arlington, Virginia across the river from Washington, D.C.  Students will receive instruction from college professors and read works by and about our Founders. 

Students will also:

New Founders Fellowship Program for Early-Career Teachers

Have you been teaching for less than five years?

The Bill of Rights Institute is pleased to invite you to apply for our brand new Founders Fellowship Program!

The Founders Fellows will convene in Washington, D.C. on July 6, 2010 for an all- expenses paid multi-day educational program. During the program, Founders Fellows will participate in lectures, discussions, and scholar-led visits to historic sites including Mount Vernon, the National Archives, Gunston Hall, Monticello, and Montpelier. 

The Founders Fellowship Program will select promising grades 7-12 social studies teachers, who are in their first five years of teaching. Early career teachers from all around the country are encouraged to apply. Twenty top teachers representing 20 states will be selected to participate.
