Student Contests

The Bill of Rights Institute offers you ways to engage in deeper study of American history and political ideas.

The Being an American Essay Contest challenges high school students to reflect on the civic values important togood citizenship. Tell us, in up to 750 words, what civic value(s) you find most important, and how you can live out that civic value(s) in your own life. To find out how to participate, see the contest website at www.beinganamerican.org.

Working in conjunction with Law Related Education in Texas and with students in Kansas, the Institute is also responsible for the Student Study Guide for the Texas Citizen Bee. We have created the Study Guide as a resource for learning about American History, Government, and Civics using interconnected pages in a new and exciting way. We hope to bring the Constitution Bee to other states in the future.

BRAND NEW! The First 5 in My Life Student Video Contest invites students in grades 7-12 to create a 2-minute video focused on either a local or national First Amendment issue.
