May 2005: The Institute publishes Media and American Democracy.
The Institute solicited lessons ideas from educators who attended the Media and American Democracy seminar at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Institute edited the lessons, provided supplementary information about First Amendment protections of speech and the press, and published those lessons in Media and American Democracy. By studying content such as the First Amendment, freedom of the press, media responsibilities, and politics, students develop a greater understanding of the complex relationship between government, free speech, and the media. “I was very impressed by Media and American Democracy…I already used the book twice in my classroom and look forward to future use.” |
